Freedom Is Yours

I'm so excited to share my new book, Secret Struggles, with you all!!!

This book is very near and dear to me for so many reasons. For starters, it is the foundation of what Changed Hearts is all about:
Vision:  To see hearts changed and people made whole through Jesus Christ.

It also has a special place in my heart because I've literally had to walk out every word in this book. As I was writing it, and even once it was finished, I found myself struggling in a number of areas that I discussed in the book. I felt empty, I isolated myself, and I looked at different areas in my life and felt like I had screwed up. I remember singing I Am No Victim by Kristene DiMarco and there's a part where she says,

I am who He says I am. He is who He says He is. I'm defined by all His promises and shaped by every word He says.

Every time I would sing that part, I would find myself thinking , "I am defined by all my weaknesses." I knew that wasn't true but it sure did feel like it. I told God that I didn't want to release this book and promote it all while being bound myself. That's crazy, right! I didn't want to just preach freedom, I wanted to live a free life. The next day I went up for an altar call and the woman asked me what I needed prayer for. I told her wholeness and freedom. God met me with revival and restoration on that day. There was no judgment, guilt, or shame-but there was freedom.

I share this because I want you to know that I believe in what I wrote. I believe that God is a restorer. I believe that He is a chain breaker. I believe that where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17). I believe that whom the Son sets free is indeed (John 8:36)! I believe it because He's done it for me, on more than one occasion, and I know that He will do it for you too.

I want to give you hope to know that you don't have to remain the same. You don't have to remain stuck in broken cycles. Everything you've been carrying, you don't have to hide it any longer. You don't have to hide behind the mask of pretending as you struggle with so much in silence and in secret.

No more bondage. No more defeat. No more chains holding you.
Declare it today and say it like you believe it!

“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
At some point in our lives, we find ourselves face to face with this thing called temptation. Generally, to the extent of which we desire a thing, is to the same extent of which we are tempted to satisfy that desire. Indisputably, there is a desire that dwells within each and every one of us…..whether it’s a particular job, car, house, spouse, or even the desire to obtain salvation through Jesus Christ (John 3:16). In Matthew 4: 1-11, it tells us about the time when Jesus was faced with temptation by Satan while he was out in the wilderness. It’s important to note that during this time Satan didn’t start tempting Jesus until Jesus was in a state of hunger. And considering that the text tells us that Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 nights, we can only imagine how hungry he might have been. One of the definitions for the term ‘hunger’ is a strong desire, which is often succeeded by vulnerability. There are times in our lives that we find ourselves hungry for something or someone and vulnerable to the temptation of satisfying that desire, even by means that are not always aligned with God’s will for us. And if being tempted while we are vulnerable isn’t bad enough, sometimes we find ourselves in the wilderness when this occurs. A place that is barren of fruit and is in the middle of nowhere. Simply put, it’s a place where we just don’t want to be.

I Want To Be Where You Are...

Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me (Luke, 9:23, NIV).
Have you ever been in a season where God is calling you to a place that pushes you so far out of your comfort zone that you’re looking around like now wait a minute…we’re doing what in this season?!? If you haven’t, walk this Christian walk out just a little while longer and I can guarantee that answer will eventually become a yes. Perhaps, He has shown you specifically what it is that He needs you to do but because He hasn’t given you the formula, or steps a through z, of how it’s going to work out, you’re still trying to figure out if it’s really Him. You’re trying to make sense of it and reason yourself out of it because to you, it just doesn’t make sense. You’ve probably received confirmation on three different occasions and in five different languages but you’re still waiting for Him to send you a sign just to be sure. You have all the questions of how, why, what, when, why again, where, why again…and wait what? Maybe even fear has crept in and led you to believe that it can’t be done, you’re not cut out for the task that you’ve been assigned, or it’s simply just too hard.

This is My command – be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9, NLT).
I had a Starbuck’s date with a friend about a week ago and she completely got my life together. Listen, you need people who you can do life with that makes your baby leap, okay? I’m talking Mary and Elizabeth style leap (Luke 1:39-45). Any who, we were talking about life and she was saying how she read Joshua 1:9 and the fact that God gave Joshua a command really hit her one day.
